Official Books by Hippocampus Logo Unveiled

When we released Selected Memories last year, we also launched a new website for Books by Hippocampus so this new division could stand on its own. At the time, focused on a new book, we created a simple placeholder graphic for the website’s headerĀ  — this was not our official logo, just something meant to differentiate this site from our magazine website.

That’s all changed now. We’re pleased, thrilled, and excited to unveil the Books by Hippocampus logo, designed by Lindsay Smuck.

Here it is:

books by hippocampus logo - name of imprint with seahorse on left, seahorse tail curls into the page of a book, and the whole book is behind the seahorse

As you can see, this logo suits us well – distinct for our imprint, but brings in elements of our magazine logo, tying our branding together.

Kudos to Lindsay for another winning design for Hippocampus. We love how she incorporates the seahorse from our magazine logo, but made such a creative design choice to take advantage of the tail, curling it into a book page. We hope this sets the tone for many Books by Hippocampus titles, filled with pages you’ll want to dogear … or, rather, seahorse-tail? Can we make that a verb?

Of note: The main Books by Hippocampus logo is the one you see here, horizontal and in black. We have also have stacked version, an icon-only version, and then versions of each in white which, all of which can be used as an alternate when design needs call for it — such as on a book spine, a square-shape ad, or dark-shade t-shirt or tote bag.

Do you love it as much as we do?
